Just a little more...

Seriously, where did Olivia get these eyes?

My parents took Owen to the circus a couple of weeks ago, and has brought home a new trait from the clowns. This apparently is what clowns do.

Aren't these boys so cute?

Life is good

Me and my friend Lindsay decided to go up American fork canyon to look at the leaves, and hopefully get a couple of good pictures, but unfortunately my little Liv didn't like that idea. As you can tell all she wanted was to sit and enjoy all of the beautiful surroundings with a bag of cheerios. Oh well I'm loving the black and white photo of her! She never smiles in pictures, but she is always smiling around the house.
Lately Olivia has adapted this new attitude, and is very impatient, especially when it comes to eating. We went out to lunch after the canyon, and I could hardly even get a bite in before she was yelling at me to feed her. Wow, I hope this isn't the beginning of a long road ahead of us. Good thing I have Owen, he is a great helper, and loves playing with Liv and keeping her entertained.

I can't stop staring at this picture. I see so much of Chris and me in him.

Attempting to get atleast one good photo of them together, nope not happening.

Yea for Owen!

Today Owen had a good day, I think a miracle took place. Owen you did it! You said, " I can keep the commandments" in front of our whole ward and your family. Strangely I was the one with butterflies in my stomach the whole time hoping that a scene wasn't about to take place, but nope you walked right up to the podium (with me crawling behind you) and said it, but you had to repeat it a second time, because it was very quiet. I really don't know how it happened, but it did. We both walked back to our seats, why I strongly fought back the tears. Owen thank you for letting the spirit help you today.

(FYI, I wasn't being one of those panic, frantic moms following my little boy around making sure he would be the best, I had to sit up there with our 7 year old class, and Owen opted to sit by me instead of his class. So when it was his time to go and say his part, he asked for my help. Hence me crawling behind him.)

On a different note. Our little Liv is walking, and she loves to be applauded for her new accomplishment. She also loves pointing and discovering new things. She has found flys very fascinating, and birds. I love her, I love the smell and feel of her hair, I love kissing her chubby cheeks, I love cuddling and singing her songs before bed, I love getting her out of bed in the morning, I love that she loves me, and she knows that I am her mom. I am a proud mom today!

Vacation blues.

I hate coming home from a vacation, it leaves me feeling down and very bored. We have been in Park city with my family this whole last week. And despite the minor blowout with my sisters (Yes it was all my fault), I had a great time. I miss playing Dr. Mario with Jamie over and over. Swimming in the hot tubs with all my neices and nephews, and most of all shopping my little heart out, with my Mom and sisters. Thanks Mom and Dad for treating us like Queens. Oh and thanks to all of the sugar wafers I consumed last week, my clothes are all feeling a little tighter (Damn wafers). No pictures to show from this week, because, yes, I was too busy eating, sleeping, and playing.

I did get some pictures of our trip to St. George over Labor day weekend. We went with our good friends, Dirt and Hill. I love them! We always have so much fun with them. Thanks for the fun weekend!

In Owen's eyes....

......I am the best human in the world, the sweetest mom, and the cutest girl on the block (I am not %100 that he said this, but when I asked him if that is what he said, he replied "yes". Great! I'll take it.) And this was all said to me in one day. Our morning ritual usually goes as follows; Make him a waffle, he replies "Thank you" get his chocolate milk ready, (he prepares it, I think this might be the highlight of his day), he replies, "Thank you" when he is done, wash him up and turn on his cartoons. This is when they all start flowing out, Your so sweet, I love you soooo much, Your so cute. Wow if only it could stay like that through the day. Oh well atleast it will all start back up the next morning. Owen, I think your the cutest, sweetest, most patient trying boy on the block, and I love you sooooo much.

Boys will be boys...

My cute friend Hill is always so creative on how to keep our little ones busy. So when she suggested painting on our bellies. Owens eyes lit up and he went for it. Bonus for me because it made him very cooperative in taking pictures (which he hardly ever is), he was so excited to see the outcome. Maybe this is the only way to get some good pics of him.

Mathews family reunion

Every year we have a family reunion at my grandma's cabin up past Heber. Last year we weren't able to go cause Livs was just born. But this year we went and it was alot of fun. I don't get to see my Mom's side of the family that often, so it is nice to be there with everyone for a couple of days. Owen loves camping, and being outdoors. Every morning since we've gotten back he asks when we are going camping next. If only his mom loved it just as much as he did.

Livs loved the big swing, but Owen not so much. It took him a good day to even think about going on it, but once he did it he loved it. He is so stubborn, he must get that from his dad, right?

Holding his new friend. By his facial expression it looks like he feels the same way I feel about little snakes.

Olivia loved playing in the river, but I could not keep my eyes off of her for a second, or a handful of yummy rocks and dirt were in her mouth.

Reason why I don't like to camp...

Because this little one has to hang out in this, while she watches Owen having fun playing in the dirt. Maybe If we could only train her that dirt is NOT to be eaten.

When all is said and done.

I know I have really been on a spiritual kick lately. With reading my inspirational blogs everyday, I can't help it. They put everything in perspective for me and have helped me tremendously with living in the moment. Making my days worthwhile with my children, instead of just another monetous day.

Anyways the other night while I was out for a run, the song "When all is said and done" started playing on my ipod, instead of turning to a more upbeat song. I slowed down and really listened to the words......
When all is said and done as the season slips away. When I've taken steps beyond my sight. Will I find my strength in greater light. Will my courage grow with every passing day. And will my faith be constant as the setting sun, when all is said and done.
When all is said and done. When the years have turned to gold. Will my life become a legacy, will the things that matter most to me. Will the fire of faith burn bright as I grow old. And will I want to be the person I've become. When all is said and done.
When all is said and done. When my eyes can finally see. Will I glory in the sweet release, and will mercy fill my soul with peace. Will I kneel and wonder at the Saviors feet. Will I hear him say "Well done" when he sees who I've become. Will I live with him, when all is said and done.

After that sweet reminder. I know that I want to hear the words "Well done." So today is a new day. And today I am strengthened.

Say hello to my little friend (not really)

I found this little creature in my front flowerbed yesterday, and also one just like it on my front porch a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say I am freaked out as of why they are all migrating at our house. Anyways if anyone has any ideas if this friend of ours has a name, or if it harmless or harmful, that would be greatly appreciated. Andy can you please get on this. I figured you would know this area pretty well since you just got a snake as a pet.

Families are Forever

I have been thinking about making my blog private, but then I have come across some blogs, that have inspired me, strengthened my testimony, made me happy and content that I am a mother, one of the greatest blessings that I can have on this earth. There are times I get discouraged thinking about what I have accomplished or achieved. I haven't been to college, or traveled the world. But I have found through other peoples trials that that stuff doesn't matter. I am a mom who has a duty to raise my beautiful Children to show them and teach them the ways of our Heavenly Father. To show them the happiness that comes with living the gospel and striving to be more like him. Thank you to some of the most beautiful, spiritual, loving and enduring moms that have shared their stories, testimonies of heartache and unimaginale pain on their blogs, you give me strength and have enriched my life. It is so easy to get caught up in the everyday, worldly wants and needs. But it feels so good to be able to feel the spirit through other peoples testimony. I know my blog will never be as inspirational as some. But I do have a strong testimony of our loving Heavenly Father, and our dear friend, brother Jesus Christ. I love the plan of Salvation and what comfort that brings to me. I know that my dear family is an eternal family. They are my family forever!

I'm One

One year has come and gone so fast. I can still remember the day I had her, and how it only seems like days ago. She has brought so much joy into our family. We are so in love with her spunky personality, and neverending contentment. I wish I could freeze this time with her, and have her be this age just a little longer.
We had family over for some food and entertainment (Olivia eating her cupcake). I honestly have never seen anything like it, she just couldn't wait to get her hands on that cupcake, and as soon as she did it was gone within a matter of minutes. I was worried about the mess, but not so much, it pretty much made it all in her tummy.
Happy Birthday my Livy! We love you.
